I wish a secret, magic python would sneak into my yard and lay in wait for the man who lives next door. Once again he has duped the Animal Control Department by telling only half of a story. What a jerk. My poor doggie, who wouldn't hurt a fly. That idiot. His name is Linden. So if you know any black men named Linden, he's the one I'm telling you about. He's a short guy so he probably has that short guy complex. He's rude and nasty. Never says "Hello" or waves. Never talks to me. I tried to be friendly but he doesn't care. He keeps his yard full of junk and cars. His roof tiles are fuzzy and need replacing. He's ugly. Really. No one else on my block has said one word about my dog. Not one! The neighbor on the other side has been most friendly and kind. She gets along just fine with my dog. My dog almost never barks at her, and when he does she just talks to my dog and he stops barking and wags his tail. Ah, life just sucks sometimes. In a couple of days it won't matter anymore. So much for the impotent short man.

Wow! Asian restaurants really do look just like the ones in the USA. Somehow I thought that real Asian restaurants had more class.

Are Jedi never disciplined?
In Star Wars, Episode 2, Anakin stands at a work bench fiddling with some electronic device he's trying to fix. He's angry, unhappy and tense. Padme enters and asks him about his state of mind. He throws the object he's working on at the wall. He turns to Padme and tells her he slaughtered an entire village of people, children and women included, because he was angry. Padme sits down with him, looks at him with wide-eyed compassion and says, "To be angry is to be human." What?!!! Certainly there comes a time in just about every experience when you need to move on. You've analyzed, repaired, fixed, altered, or whatever as much as you can. Anakin's initial confession is not that time.

Sometimes all you can do is be compassionate. However, if I had been listening to Anakin's confession, my first call would have been to the police. "Like, hey, we got a wacko renegade here! Come pick him up" A better response to Anakin would be, "Dude, you need a course in anger management! And some serious therapy!" In this case, moving on is not really called for. Moving on is for when you stub your toe or your uncle dies or maybe a flood takes away your house. Think how interesting it might be around here if those who slaughtered villages were told, "To be angry is to be human." Anyone feel this is an appropriate response to Usama Bin Laden? Exactly.

I suppose these comments were brought on by my "Rise, Lord Vader" Star Wars, Episode 3, desktop. Something about the evil in those non-eyes and that clenching, throat-closing grasping hand brought me back to a moment in the theater. At other times I see poor gasping Padme lying pregnant on the ground as little Anakin has an angry moment. What was he thinking? I suppose he wasn't.

Summer Garden Report
Yes, it's time. I have succeeded in allowing flowers to bloom in my backyard. Here's a photo of the Canna Lilies and Gladiolas. Both are from really cheap bulbs I got at Lowes. Canna's and glads in my back yard: Summer 2005

Next, a photo of the Wildflower Garden which is basically a version of sunflower. Also, really cheap seeds but from WalMart. I bought them last fall and planted them this spring. Goes to show you what survives in a box and what the birds don't like to eat.Canna's and glads in my back yard: Summer 2005

I also have flowers by the front door but I'm going to let those grow for awhile before I show you a picture.

I got a hair cut. Would you like to see a picture of me as a crazy, old, geekette?

How odd is it for a country that was established by guerilla fighting to try to stop terrorism? This country, built on freedom, is trying to stop a small, insignificant group of people from expressing themselves by restricting everyone. I've said it a million times and I won’t stop saying it, you can't stop terrorism.

Thank the universe for level heads. Yes, you could run a terrorist group from a library. All you need is an ID. How hard is that? You could also run a terrorist group from your basement with no documentation at all. What about using secretly coded classified ads? You can punish evil doers that you catch but you can't stop evil.

As long as we have a choice (and we always should), we will be able to choose evil. What is needed is effective education about morals and loop holes. Encourage choices made for constructive reasons and made reasonably. Show how destructive even small evil can be. Put together sane families and societies. That's how you stop terrorism and evil. Well, that's how you minimize it anyway.

I am very disturbed by so much focus on aberration. Most people do good most of the time. Let's remember that, shall we?

I don't want to make anything anymore. I prefer to just think about it. Or maybe think about making something or maybe just think about things and write about them. I've been working on my summer dress for six months. I hope I get it done before the end of the summer. Writing may actually be making something. So maybe I don't want to do that either. Actually, I think it's the weather and I'd rather be sitting on the deck drinking a coffee-flavored beverage than getting ready to go to work.
