Everyone Needs One

If you are anywhere near 50, go get a colonoscopy. It's the most fun I've had in an long time and I am now a member of that elite group of old people who talk about their procedures. I found out a couple of things:

  • No one can give a terrible enough description of the cleansing process. I thought a day of not eating could only be so bad. It's much worse. On top of that, I lived in the bathroom with a really sore butt. So, it's a lot like having the flu without a fever.

  • The colonoscopy is fun! Yes. The word is "fun."

    1. You get treated like a celebrity (... well, you do if you go where I went. There's a movie of a typical colonoscopy on the site. Choose the "Procedures" link).

    2. You get really nice drugs. There's no pain and you feel really happy—not drugged.

    3. You get to see a part of yourself you've never seen before and it's pretty and pink!

So, go. Get one!

One other thing: I think I may have a food allergy. Symptoms I'd been having for years went away for about 3 days after the procedure. I may start a new blog on foods. I certainly have plenty of back story. Ha ha. Sorry about that.
